On the dominant culture of Hollywood
“I think as an artist, if you’re involved, there are some lines that you draw,” says Luke Hendrix, Executive Pastor of Imago Dei Community in Portland, OR. “Portraying a world view, accurately, that you disagreed with isn’t necessarily a sin. Artists and actors alike have an incredible impact on our generation, so understanding that “you as an artist have the potential to have great impact” will help help you stand beside your beliefs and your faith allowing you to leave behind a message you value.
On defending Christianity
“Some of us will indeed be very good at it, others of us won’t. The challenge is to say ‘I’m actually going to be attentive to the language of the dominant culture,” says Luke Hendrix, Executive Pastor at Imago Dei Community in Portland, OR. Often times when our faith is challenged against another world view, we as Christians may feel the pressure to want to defend. The goal is to engage the conversation rather than become defensive.
Is the King James Version (KJV) bible the only bible with everything in it?
“If there’s going to be an argument, some would say we’ve found other translations but nothing is as dominant as the first—I would not necessarily hold to that,” says Luke Hendrix, Executive Pastor at Imago Dei Community in Portland, OR. Is the KJV the only acceptable text? “I think the KJV is a great bible, and one you should own and read occasionally. Personally, I like the idea that we would continue to try and translate.”
