Rick Gerhardt :: What is the current evolutionary origin of life theory?

  • “The state of origin of life research today is really a frustrating one,” says Rick Gerhardt, Biologist and Christian Apologist. “We are not only no closer than we were in the 1950s to understanding how life originated, but in many ways we’re much further [away].” College and high school textbooks still point to experiments done decades ago to prove that amino acids can be spontaneously created in certain environments. But even those experiments are now irrelevant in light of what we know about the early earth. The result is that the evolutionary account for the origin of life has been fluid and inconsistent for the last decade. “We understand [more about] the impossibilities of natural processes producing living cells from inorganic chemistry than ever before.”
