“Reason and evidence are foundational to Christian faith,” Biologist and Christian Apologist Rick Gerhardt says. Up until the late 1800s, the church was the leader in establishing universities, prompting public discourse, and founding hospitals and orphanages. In the 1900s, with the boost in scientific fields there came to be two thoughts: scientists have evidence and proof and Christians have blind faith. Many in conservative evangelicalism have come to accept this dichotomy. As a result, we are now living in what some consider the most anti-intellectual time in church history.
