Mark Kadel :: Sex Trafficking in the U.S.

  • “The FBI says that there’s up to 17,000 new victims brought into the United States every year, that they’re aware of,” says Mark Kadel, Director of World Relief Spokane. “And most of them are to supply the ongoing demand for commercialized sex. That’s an unbelievable number of victims being imported, but it doesn’t even speak to the number of domestic sex slaves in the U.S., nor does it speak to the number of children currently being sexually exploited here.

Shared Hope International recently conducted a three month study on sex trafficking in Las Vegas. During the study, 182 underage girls were arrested and put in juvenile detention, but only 2 pimps were arrested (and immediately released on bail), and no johns were arrested at all. “We take the victims and we revictimize them by putting them in jail, but we let the people that are selling the children and buying these children to go free.”
