“In our walk and our witness, we believe what we believe and we should do that as full-hearted and full-throated as we can, that isn’t to say that we should force that unto others,” says Luke Hendrix, Executive Pastor at Imago Dei Community in Portland, OR. Often new believers develop a pattern of proclaiming their faith and lose all of their non-Christian friends.
“At this point in my life I don’t have much desire to defend Christianity or more particularly to defend the bible,” says Hendrix. “I’m more interested now in just saying ‘if you have a world view can I hear it?’ but if you borrow anything from my world view I’m going to call you out on it. Seemingly, when we match up world views, I’m saying Christianity has the ability to match up all the world needs of humanity. I haven’t met a world view that’s been able to do that.”
