Leroy Barber :: Is there a better model for today’s missions fundraising?

  • “Fundraising is definitely a big part of why we don’t see people of color [in leadership in many missions organizations],” says Leroy Barber, Author and Global Executive Director of Word Made Flesh. One way of eroding some of the inherent racism and classism in the typical missions fundraising model is to set a community goal for a missions trip or team, rather than burden individuals with raising their own funds. “It doesn’t solve the problem completely, but it gets people in a different mindset.”
