Kenny LaPoint :: Are stereotypes of the homeless incorrect?

  • “Misperception would be that ‘the homeless guy on the corner…is every homeless person’,” answers Kenny LaPoint, Housing and Resident Services Director at Housing Works in Central Oregon. The vast majority of homeless people do not beg, and many are young. Families, the disabled, seniors and others may lack visibility. “A lot of them are trying to get back on their feet and they don’t want other people to know that they’re living in poverty.”
