While the deductive ‘Problem of Evil’ argument against Theism was solved by Plantinga, the inductive problem remains: is it likely that an all good, all loving God exists, given the presence of purposeless, meaningless evil and suffering? People will always disagree on this question, and there is no irrefutable answer to it. But Christianity isn’t incompatible with the presence of evil; in fact, Christianity predicts suffering and evil and gives us a way to respond to it. “Christianity actually is at peace with suffering, even though it brings up a lot of felt existential questions,” says Ken Wytsma, President of Kilns College and Founder of The Justice Conference.
