Ken Wytsma :: On ‘Road to Damascus’ Moments

  • “I don’t think everybody has those,” says Ken Wytsma, Pastor of Antioch Church in Bend, OR and Founder of The Justice Conference, “because I haven’t interacted with enough people that have.” Paul had his ‘Road to Damascus’ moment, but a lot of the disciples were simply called by name while they were fishing. “I’ve developed a theory that sometimes the further someone is from Christ…the more severe the grab.”

When it comes to more mundane, less ‘spectacular’ moments of communion with God, how do we discern his voice from our own thoughts? One of the biggest clues is when the thought is so different or untypical or outside your regular way of thinking that you know it came from someone else. At the end of the day, we shouldn’t look for ‘Road to Damascus’ moments to happen routinely. “We typically only get a couple of those in our life.”
