Ken Wytsma :: How healthy is it to tell your kids they can do anything?

For aspirations that are out of their control, we can tell them to certainly pursue it and work hard at the basics that could lead to that aspiration. “We help nuance it so that people understand what failure is and isn’t.” If you tell a kid that they can’t do something, it immediately makes their world smaller. “Kids are better governed not by formulas, quotes, or maxims but by parents and mentors that nurture and steer.”
