Ken Wytsma :: European Christianity vs. U.S. Christianity?

  • “I don’t even think you can get a point of comparison,” says Ken Wytsma, President of Kilns College and Founder of The Justice Conference. “If you’re in Switzerland, you tell them what denomination you are, what your religion is, and your tithe comes out of your tax.” Religion is a much more central part of the political and social history of Europe, and Americans really have no frame of reference for comprehending European Christianity. American cultural history is much more political than it is religious: we don’t look to churches or cathedrals or religious leaders as symbols of our cultural history the way Germans and Italians do.
