Ken Wytsma :: Do we sometimes need to endure hardship to build character?

  • What should we do when we sense a friend needs to endure hardship to build character? Do we even have the right to make that kind of a decision? According to Ken Wytsma, President of Kilns College and Founder of The Justice Conference, “I can’t, in helping my friend, do a greater injustice to my friend by forestalling the development of their character.” By applying the principles of wisdom and love and sorting our priorities into an appropriate hierarchy, we should be able to consistently act in our friends’ best interest.
