Keith Wright :: Is population growth a problem in the Global South?

  • “Family size is ‘Social Security,’ in a way,” says Keith Wright, International President of Food for the Hungry. “It’s their labor force, it’s their savings, and it’s their retirement.” While Americans tend to perceive children as a liability and assume that large families result from a lack of birth control, the truth is that in the Global South a large family is a good thing. If people are a poor country’s greatest resource, the best thing that can be done for that country is to help develop their people. “What we really focus on is helping them realize their full potential.”
