Gerry Breshears :: What do you do with an abuser when he is forgiven and still present?

  • “Many times forgiveness is the idea that I give up my right to hurt a person back and I just pretend like it never happened,” explains Dr. Gerry Breshears, Author and Professor of Theology at Western Seminary “And I think that is not forgiveness.” It is necessary to protect the abuser so that they are not necessarily drawn back into their offense. There are ways to help people without tempting them with what they’ve done in their past. “That is forgiveness and not stupidity.”
