Gerry Breshears :: Is a home church a real church?

  • “When you come together each one of you has a hymn, a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or interpretation,” quotes Dr. Gerry Breshears, Author and Professor of Theology at Western Seminary, from 1 Corinthians 14, “everything done so the church . . . is built up.” The small size of a traditional home church allows for every member to contribute to the growth in knowledge of all the members, although some home churches also have a “gifted teacher”. Where this structure works well in a small setting, it would be unfeasible in a large church of a couple hundred people.
