Brett Kunkle :: Why does church often mirror the ideas and values of culture?

  • “We’ve become very anti-intellectual,” says Brett Kunkle, Student Impact Director at Stand to Reason. “We haven’t equipped our people to engage the false ideas of the culture.” Churches tend to focus exclusively on life-improvement and practical conversations, rather than wrestling with ideas and difficult subjects. At the same time, our culture is constantly barraging us with ideas from all of our different screens: television, movies, computers and smart phones. “When we don’t know the truth very well, then we have a difficult time parsing these bad ideas, these false ideas that are coming to us through the culture.”
