There’s a lot of innovation and energy going into combatting international injustice through science and technology, but what about local injustice taking place in the U.S.? George Fox’s Servant Engineering Program partners with Providence Center for Medically Fragile Children and the Oregon Commission for the Blind. “There’s really not a marketplace for medically fragile children, so there are not going to be a lot of products designed to meet their needs,” says Dr. Robert F. Harder, Professor and Chair of the Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering Department at George Fox University. The Servant Engineering Program is currently working on two projects: a money reader for the blind and vibrational therapy to strengthen the bones of medically fragile children.
